Phased Array Antennas
The FCI-3710 and FCI-3740 are Commercial Phased Array Antennas optimized for mobile applications. They were created in response to customer demand and leverage the years of experience Fidelity Comtech has developed building phased arrays for fixed infrastructure applications.
Both antennas feature an 8-element uniform circular array, allowing the radiation pattern to be steered and shaped in the azimuth. The difference between the two is in the radiating elements: the FCI-3710 is lower profile and provides slightly less gain, while the FCI-3740 is larger and provides slightly higher performance.
These antennas can be used with any ISM band TDD radio including:
- IEEE 802.11 (WiFi ®)
- IEEE 802.16 (WiMax ®)
- IEEE 802.15 (Zigbee® and its variants)
- Software Defined Radio (SDR), including GnuRadio and the USRP
These phased arrays enable:
- Geolocation via direction finding
- Reach Extension via focused signal energy
- Interference Mitigation via null steering
- Privacy via directing the signal energy only towards the intended recipient.
The phase and magnitude of each antenna element can be independently controlled. Phase resolution is 1˚, magnitude resolution is 0.01 dB of full scale.
Transmit/Receive control can be automatically sensed or controlled via an external TX/RX signal.
Up to 127 patterns can be pre-programmed into the antenna and recalled in less than 2 µSec.
Antenna control is via two primary interfaces: RS-232 or RS-485. Options for Synchronous Serial and USB control are available.
